2 cups water454 g
1 tbsp creamy peanut butter—
1 tbsp soy sauce16 g
1 tsp vegetable oil, or toasted sesame oil4.1 g
1/4 tsp garlic powder, optional—

Gram weights use the King Arthur Baking ingredient weight chart; “—” means the ingredient isn’t on the chart, so measure it by volume or count. Measure flour by spooning it into the cup and leveling, or better, weigh it.

Method

  1. Bring the water to a boil. Add the ramen noodles and cook 2–3 minutes, until just tender.
  2. Lower the heat. Stir in the peanut butter until it melts into the broth, then the soy sauce, oil, garlic powder and about half the seasoning packet (taste before adding more — it's salty).
  3. Serve immediately in a deep bowl.

Tips

  • Peanut butter, the ramen packet and garlic powder aren't on our weight chart; soy sauce, water and oil use cited weights.
  • Skip the peanut butter for a cleaner soy-garlic broth, or add a spoonful of chili crisp if you keep a jar in the pantry.
